LV Car Insurance @ www.lv.com

LV Car InsuranceLV (Liverpool Victoria) is one of the UK’s largest insurers. They now have more than 5.7 million customers, of which 1.1 million are members (this is a mutual organisation). A range of markets are promoted through www.lv.com. Of central importance in the range is car insurance. For market share in this niche they are the 3rd largest group (#1 DLG, 2# Aviva). Other trading brands include ABC Insurance and Highway. From checking each of these sites you can only apply through a partnered broker (they link out to BIBA to run a search). Around 50% of all sales are actually generated through brokers. Through the direct arm you’ll be welcomed with an impressive motor policy.

They hold a 5 star Defaqto rating plus have received recognition through Reevoo, YouGov and Which?. A headline reads cover starting from just £199 (10% of new customers paid £199 or less). There are various features noted such as a 5 year guarantee on repairs, accidental damage, a new-for-old car replacement if yours is less than 12 months old, the uninsured driver promise and so on. On the Defaqto page there are additional listings for Plus and Select. Each noted a courtesy car and an unlimited windscreen limit rather than market value. It is marked that over 1000 people a day insure cars with them. Their displayed calculation however works out at just over 1460 daily.

As one of the UK’s leading insurers, it is unsurprising that they are achieving such high volume. They have a good search engine presence and are frequently advertised on TV. One route where they haven’t quite made their mark is via leading comparison sites. In historic testing their quotes were either very expensive or they were unable to quote across various sampled drivers. We’d hazard a guess that they are too picky, seeking drivers with lots of driving experience. It will be such drivers who’ll manage to get quoted anywhere near the headlined £199. Business has always been boosted greatly here by partnered brokers. Many companies choose to be underwritten by Liverpool Victoria Insurance Company Ltd.

We can see Nationwide being one of their key partners. There is no LV car insurance login facility added to www.lv.com. They either provide contact details or forms to do specific things. A few contact numbers are listed by them. The number for those who’d like to make a change is 0800 633 5211. The listed opening hours are Monday to Friday (8am/9pm), Saturday (8am/5pm) and Sunday (9am/5pm). Just to add that there is a saving available to all members. For cars this is noted as heading up to 10%. If you’d like to learn more about the benefits or workings of membership then you can drop them an email at feedback@lv.com.
