Privilege Car Insurance @ www.privilege.com

Privilege Car InsuranceIt has always been tricky for Privilege to stand out with Direct Line and Churchill being attached to the DLG roster. There is certainly a significant gulf between the main company (10 million customers) and this one that served 600,000 customers last year. Perhaps you’d expect more from a high profile insurer that started out over 20 years ago in 1994. DLG headlines the targeting of customers here who mainly buy through PCWs. It would so appear that TV advertising has been overlooked for this project. This hasn’t always been the case though. You may recall the now vintage posh ads featuring Joanna Lumley and Nigel Havers that attracted flack for their offensive views of the upper class.

We were impressed with the design aspects of www.privilege.com. Here they promote cover for cars and the home. The headed Privilege car insurance features include a courtesy car as standard and if your wheels are written off then they’ll replace and match if under 12 months old. There is also child seat replacement, plus if hit by an uninsured driver they’ll take the excess and repairs are guaranteed for 5 years with their approved repairer. These features are for comprehensive policies. There are various add-ons available such as breakdown and legal. There are also dedicated pages for telematics (DriveXpert) and the multi-car discount. DriveXpert is available on cars made after 1996. A discount (not specified) is applied if you’re under 26.

With the multi-car discount, on a 2nd insured policy the quote should identify the same address and alert you to the saving. A Privilege car insurance login facility is fitted to the www.privilege.com site. The DriveXpert login for reference is taken elsewhere at www.mydrivexpert.com. On the contact page, they did previously advise existing customers to head to their account where most tasks can be completed. They have since updated to list their main contact details. For assistance they take calls on 0345 246 8539 and their times are Monday to Friday (8am/9pm), Saturday (9am/5pm) and Sunday (10am/5pm). On a past check they didn’t take calls on Sunday and so this has been a welcome upgrade.
