Tesco Car Insurance @ www.tescobank.com

Tesco Car InsuranceTesco is one of the world’s leading retailers and here in the UK they remain the dominant supermarket chain commanding over a 28% of the market. Their supermarket roots head way back to 1919. Their Bank started out in 1997. This was originally a partnership with RBS, but they are now the whole owner. The Bank’s customer base has impressively now reached 7.6 million. A wide range of financial products are served, but we’ll today be looking at the car insurance offering at www.tescobank.com. All drivers aged between 17 and 25 are placed on Box Insurance. This telematics product is arranged by Insure The Box Ltd and underwritten by Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance Company of Europe Ltd.

They do also have an app (Drive) that can supplement their main policy. This central product is underwritten by a range of insurers. As we’re aware, this includes Tesco Underwriting (a partnership with Ageas) plus Aviva, Chaucer, Covea and Sabre. It is believed that over 1 million customers are signed up. This cover has received a 5 star Defaqto rating. Noted features include such things as a small courtesy car, UK cover extended to EU for up to 90 days, uninsured driver promise and windscreen cover. There is a guaranteed discount for Clubcard customers (saving not specified). Tesco’s Drive app can also be added for a saving. At least 10% of over 25s see a 20% discount.

There is no Tesco car insurance login in place at www.tescobank.com. There are only forms that can be filled in to make changes. Their main login is for their credit cards, current accounts, loans etc. There is however a portal for their Box product for young drivers. Customer support is available 7 days a week on 0345 246 2895. They take calls during the week between 8am and 9pm and over weekends from 9am to 5pm. You can find Tesco’s quotes on comparison sites (they have closed their own platform over at www.tescocompare.com). They used to perform not too well, but they have improved considerably recently. Their main competitor Sainsbury’s themselves have also been progressing well.
